Our Mission


    Our missions are : 

    (a) to empower labour migrants with the power of law to defend against exploitation and rights’ violations; 

    (b) to render legal assistance to victimized and potential labour migrants and

    (c) to demand justice for those who have no access to justice.

    Our objectives are :  

    (a) to establish a national network of Bangladeshi lawyers who provide professional and pro bono legal assistance to Bangladeshi labour migrant workers and members of their families; 

    (b) to advance justice as well as work to realize the rights of all migrant workers and members of their families; 

    (c) to focus on migrant workers' rights violation cases in Bangladesh and destination countries and make efforts to facilitate access to justice and apply strategic litigation and policy advocacy to work; 

    (d) to provide strategic opportunities for the grassroots to push for greater concerted actions on building and strengthening capacities of network members and partners on provision of legal assistance and rights advocacy, bridging access to justice for migrant workers and members of their families, and empowering the latter through the rule of law; 

    (e) to work with a vast continuum of the advocacy of the Migration Forum Asia (MFA) and other networks for the promotion and protection of the rights of migrant workers and members of their families in Asia, and the potential influence the network can bring beyond the region; 

    (f) to contribute to the wider efforts of the migrants rights network on international governance of migration and development; 

    (g) to work with different countries lawyers in managing migrant workers violation cases; 

    (h) to strengthen and expand the lawyers beyond borders network through engagement with National Bar Council, local Bar Associations, individual lawyers and others ; 

    (i) to increase access to justice by providing support to migrants and families through legal assistance and network case referral; 

    (j) to continue communication and research activities of Lawyers Beyond Borders-Bangladesh Chapter in line with promoting cross learning and discussions of strategies to overcome legal challenges in both countries of origin and destination; 

    (k) to establish, run and maintain legal education institutions namely university, college, school, traditional training center and research institutes with permission from concerned authority as and when necessary; 

    (l) to undertake and carry on any humanitarian or charitable program for the poor and vulnerable labour migrants.
